George Liddard fights to mark himself out as one of Britain's best boxers under the age of 25

George Liddard is looking to blast his way into the reckoning of one of Britain's best boxers under the age of 25.

Moses Itauma, just 21, and Adam Azim, 23, have established themselves as the rising stars on the British boxing scene.

But Liddard made his name winning the British and Commonwealth middleweight championships at the age of 23. He secured those belts when he stopped Kieron Conway in his last fight.

"That's the goal for me, just keep pushing on, keep stepping up, keep testing and proving to everyone that I am who I say I am and that is one the best fighters in the world at middleweight," Liddard told Your Site.

"I said I was going to be the first to stop the man [Conway] and I did it. I said by any means possible and that's exactly what we did. No one was denying me that night. I just felt that was my time.

"Experience gets you so far but when you're in there with a young hungry, dangerous fighter, it doesn't matter what you have, I'm going to get the job done."

He looks to consolidate his status on Saturday when he fights veteran former European champion Tyler Denny at the Copper Box Arena.

"To go and beat a former European champion I think that stamps me as I'm up there," Liddard said.

"I'm not exactly an inexperienced fighter for 13-0. I've been in there with some good fighters already. Some fighters that were meant to come and maybe cause me a bit of trouble and I feel like I've kind of swept through them quite comfortably at times."

If he beats Denny, Liddard can push himself into the fringes of world title contention.

"The goal would be to win a world title in the next 18 months," he said. "I'm closing in towards those world title eliminators.

"I'm not looking past any of these opponents, I just believe that's what I'm capable of doing. Beating Denny will be another step closer to proving that."

"I believe you can put me in there with any man and I would back myself to get the job done. I will find a way."

He added: "I'm a young lad from Billericay with a dream and, fight on fight, I'm getting closer to that dream."
